On June 19th a
group flew out to Kalamazoo, MI, to see the Kalamazoo Air Zoo Museum. A
convoy consisting of a Cessna 195, Cessna 172, Cessna 205, a Fairchild, a
Decathlon and a Turbo Piper Arrow left after doughnuts and a briefing on an
extremely beautiful Saturday to see a collection of historical aircraft,
including a Blackbird, as well as go on a WWII bombing run during a 3-D
movie, ride a Shuttle to a space station and play in their full-motion
simulators. The next weekend
Charlie, Denny, Walt and Tom flew and met Jason at the Quad City Airshow
(they discovered the hard way where they missed putting on sunblock!)…John
Rolando has put quite a few hours on his Arrow in the last month,
building up cross country time toward his instrument rating. His plane is
looking better than ever with the new windshield…..Come by and meet our new
flight instructor, Mark Delhotal. A recent graduate of Lewis University’s aviation program, Mark aspires to a career in
aviation…After being weathered out more than once, Paul Meyer, a recent high school graduate, took and passed
his private checkride last month. Congratulations Paul!..When you come to
the airport you may see recent private pilot Mike Bernier who has
a job working for the City of Morris at the airport this summer or Judith
McGregor working in the Café Cabaret....The Decathlon is back on
line. If you have ever
considered trying aerobatics, or even just seeing what a spin is like, just
give us a call….
Mark your
calendar on July 17th for a cookout and airport-wide “hangar” sale. All are invited! Bring something to throw on the
grill and enjoy the afternoon watching airplanes and swapping
stories....and maybe do a little flying. Come out anytime Saturday for the
hangar sale; the cookout begins at 4:00 pm. If you have any
airplane “stuff” that you would like to add to the sale, please call Cindy
@ 815-941-0063.
